Mexican Arnica is known as Árnica del país by the common folk and indigenous peoples of Mexico. Mexican Arnica is known as Tlalyetl by the Aztecs. Mexican arnica has been used, and continues to be of use in traditional and folk medicine throughout Mexico and much of Central and South America. Mexican Arnica is utilized in the same fashion in Mexico, as Mountain Arnica and Meadow Arnica are utilized elsewhere in the world. All 'arnicas' are often used topically to treat inflammation, bruising, and skin disorders. Scientific research, albeit limited, suggests that the chemicals contained in Mexican Arnica also have antioxidant, antitumor, and cytotoxic properties. Mexican Arnica makes a wonderful multi-purpose garden addition as it is a great pollinator plant and requires little care once established.
