Purple Devil Plant is native to Brazil, and is also known as Malevolence Plant, Purple Spine Nightshade, or a five-minute plant (which denotes the time an onlooker might study it before backing away slowly). Clearly, this plant does not want to be eaten or even fussed with. Purple Devil Plant produces dark purple to almost black stems that have viscous thorns of up to an inch long. Purple Devil Plant leaves are large, crinkled and are sporadically laced with downy thorns as well. Purple Devil Plant is considered toxic as it contains tropane alkaloids. Purple Devil Plant is not to be used in homeopathy and should be considered toxic. That being said, Purple Devil Plant has been reported to possess chemicals that have been used as an antidote to anticholinergic nerve gas poisons.
