From The Package "The Dirty Gardener Collection is a collection of seeds for those who like to jump into different beds in the spring or fall or spend an usually long amount time on their knees sticking their hands in various holes ".
• Hairy Balls (Gomphocarpus physocarpus) Hairy Balls is a rather unassuming plant until things warm up and then -BAM- there they are, big ol' balls hanging everywhere. It may be best to plant them in an out of the way area, but should an envious gaze fall upon them, simply explain that those puppies are destined to explode then shrivel up and fall off.
• Peter Pepper (Capsicum annuum) The Peter pepper was first discovered, mentioned and aptly named in Texas. This bright red pepper tends to be on the thin wrinkly side and so it is almost never a first round pick when you're searching for a real hottie. That being said, in times of desperation, it might useful if you can pluck it from the yard and get it into the kitchen.
• Clitoria (Clitoria ternatea) Clitoria was named by distant endemic peoples of modern day Indonesia. Obviously, these guys called it like they saw it. Surprisingly, the name stuck. Despite an uprising within the science communities and countless uncomfortable biology students later, the name Clitoria made it all the way to the to the 21st century unadulterated!
• Passionfruit (Passiflora edulis) The waxy intricate blooms of the passion flower vine seem to garner a closer look. Much like taking in a fine piece of art or carefully studying a Rorschach blot, there seems to be a generalized, bordering on blatant interpretation of this vine's flowers. Luckily, Passion vine is overzealous about performance and the passion can last for months on end unlike some other species.
• Tickle Plant (
• Red Hot Poker (Kniphofia uvaria) Stand back and watch out because this hottie is big and bold and could even be a little bit on the fiery side. All you need to do is get Red Hot Poker into a bed, and it will do all the rest. Be prepared to be dazzled by Red Hot Poker's impressive performance for months on end!
• Pink Pussytoes (Antennaria Dioica Rubra) This low growing delicate looking evergreen pops out little pink nubby flowers when things start to heat up but they will soon disappear if it gets too hot. Surprisingly, pink pussytoes have historically been used to make a douche.
• Wild Thyme (Thymus pulegioides) Although you may find this one rambling about and overall somewhat unpredictable, a wild thyme is something that no avid gardener should ever be without!
